Flip the roll so the printable (coated) side faces up as it exits. Then scratch a label hard with your fingernail: direct thermal paper turns black under friction. No black mark means the paper itself isn't thermal, and the printer can't fix chemistry.
Why this works: The ITPP941 has no ink. Heat from the printhead darkens a coating on one side of the paper. Wrong side up, or no coating at all, equals a perfectly "working" printer producing perfectly blank labels.
Fix 4: You Print and Nothing Happens
No error, no light change, no noise — the job just vanishes. On Windows, open Settings → Printers & Scanners and look for duplicates: "Label Printer," "Label Printer (Copy 1)," and so on. Print to the newest entry, or delete the extras and stick to one USB port forever after.
Why this works: Windows maps printers to specific USB addresses. Plug into a different port and Windows silently creates a copy while your apps keep feeding jobs to the old dead entry. Fix 6: Faded or Patchy Printing
Power off and unplug. Open the lid, find the printhead (the strip the paper runs under), and wipe it gently with a cotton swab and 70%+ isopropyl alcohol. Let it dry three minutes. If print is still light afterward, raise the darkness/density setting one step in printer preferences.
Why this works: Paper dust and adhesive residue build an insulating film on the printhead, muffling its heat before it reaches the paper. Cleaning restores contact. Go easy on the density setting though — max darkness runs the head hotter and shortens its life. Clean first, darken second.
Fix 7: Labels Drift, Skip, or Feed Extra Blanks
Slide the green paper guides until they just touch both edges of the roll, then recalibrate.

Fix 8: Mac Can't Find the Printer

Install the 300 DPI driver on a 203 DPI machine (or the reverse) and everything appears to work — until your labels come out subtly wrong-sized, with barcodes that scan intermittently or not at all. It's maddening precisely because nothing errors out.
Print a self-test page (hold FEED while powering on): it states your true resolution. Match your installed driver to that number exactly.
